Thoughts on Love

Last week I had the great blessing of becoming engaged to the love of my life.  It’s amazing how one moment can affect your feelings for someone.  I knew I loved Kami before my proposal, but seeing her face light up and the glow of her countenance evolved my love to a new, much deeper level.  A kind of love that I never knew I could feel for someone else.  I look forward to every minute of our life towards eternity together.

Love is something that everyone deserves to feel on a daily basis.  It’s a powerful force that motivates us to become better individuals.  There is a reason that love is associated with the heart.  The heart is the most vital of the organs in the body.  Without it’s proper function, the body dies.  So it is with love.  Although we don’t physically die due to an absence of love, there is the possibility of an emotional death.

No one should ever feel unloved, or that there isn’t anyone that cares about them.  Every day we should make a priority to show our love for those around us.  Each of us has a Father who loves us unconditionally.  He knows us better then we know ourselves.  No matter what our circumstance may be, we can talk to him, and know that he exists, and that he does in fact love us.  Prayer is the way to communicate with God our Father.  We can pray aloud, or silently in our minds.  He will hear a heartfelt prayer regardless.  When we pray, it should be an open conversation with God.  Tell him what you’re feeling, express gratitude to Him for your blessings, ask for answers and guidance to your questions and challenges.  He is there always.  He loves you.

The ultimate manifestation of love was through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” -1 John 4:9-10

Remember, love is a verb.  Showing others that we love them makes more of a difference and impact then by just telling them.  Tell them often, but show them more.

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” -1 John 4:11
