The Latter-day Life

The other day I had a cool experience. My scripture case has a zippered pocket on the front, and I used to stash papers and notes inside of it.  Anyways, yesterday I decided to open it up and found a great quote that I had forgotten about.

“The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.” -Theodore Roosevelt

The point I want to make here is that it’s important to write things down.  Keep a journal or a notebook with you, and write things down.  Remember them.  Re-read them later.  You’d be surprised what writing things down in a notebook can do to your life.  It’s amazing!  You could write down quotes that inspire you, or scriptures, or record spiritual experiences.  These are things you can share with your children and grandchildren later on.  I’ve never been good at keeping a daily journal, but I do make sure to write down things I want to remember, like the quote above from President Roosevelt.

There is a lot of information available to us, all for our learning, and we can’t remember it all at once.  So grab a notebook, and have fun!
