A Mormon’s View on Easter

Do Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) celebrate the Easter holiday?

Absolutely we do!

“And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” –Matthew 28:5-6

Easter is a time to celebrate the miraculous resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of the Savior’s resurrection, each of us will receive immortal, resurrected bodies after we die. The Book of Mormon adds a clear perspective of this truth:

“Now, this restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but every thing shall be restored to its perfect frame, as it is now, or in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil.” –Alma 11:44

Easter is special because it reminds us of a new beginning to be had after we depart from this life. Though only celebrated annually, we should thank God our Father for the gift of His Son daily. Without Him, there would be no purpose to life.
