With all of the debate on moral issues today, everyone seems to feel a need to voice their opinions, and that is okay. I applaud that. I generally tend to shy away from political posts, but sometimes you have to speak your mind…
Everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinion. However, as was taught recently in General Conference,
“Even if ‘everyone is doing it,’ wrong is never right…But in fact, 50 million people can be wrong—totally wrong.” –Russell M. Nelson
Marriage is a huge topic right now. A very small group of people are making a very large case to redefine marriage. Some are entering into same-sex marriages, some marrying more than one of their gender, and some even marrying animals. Many of these marriages, ironically, are being performed in the name of God.
Please take note—this is not a civil rights issue, as they are making it out to be. It is a moral issue. Morality draws the line between right and wrong in cases like these.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I firmly believe and support marriage between only one man and one woman. This is clearly taught in The Family: A Proclamation to the World.
This world began with a marriage between one man and one woman. They were sealed as one by sacred covenant between each other and God.
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” –Genesis 3:24
This is the way it was, this is the way it should stay. God’s laws do not change. Mortal men do not have the power to change God’s laws.
Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” –Hebrews 13:8
In an earlier post, I wrote about tolerance and support. When it comes to moral issues, and any other issues that impact our lives, we must not show support if we do not believe in it. All that can be done is what I’m doing—writing out my thoughts, voicing my opinion, standing up for what I believe in, and in the mean time, tolerating the decisions of others who do not understand the great consequences associated with their actions.
In the end, it comes down to love. Though difficult to understand, God loves all of us individually, even if we are not living by His standards. Of course He desires us to follow Him, we just need to be willing to submit ourselves to Him. The first step is to see each other, and see ourselves, as God, our literal Father in Heaven, sees us.
Many may argue as non-believers, and that is okay. However, just because you do not believe in something, or some One, does not mean it, or He does not exist.

No matter what law may be passed in the future, the laws of this land are only temporary. God will always have the last and final say.
