Using the Internet For Good

Anyone will agree that the Internet is an incredible tool. You can literally find anything on the World Wide Web. However, there is a battle raging in this cyber world, a battle between good and evil.

Though it seems the negative side of the Internet has the momentum these days, there is plenty of good to be found on the Internet.

What is the Good?

Defining what is good can prove to be difficult depending on who you’re asking. Here are a couple of guidelines I choose to follow:

“We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.” -13th Article of Faith

“But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.” –Moroni 7:13 (Book of Mormon)

The Internet is a powerful tool. A negative article can really damage an individual, group, or nation. However, a positive article can uplift the world.

Shouldn’t we ignore our differences and just seek to make this world a more positive place? There is not a more powerful tool than the Internet for such a task.

Give it a try. Upload more good. Be positive, both online and in person. Seek to uplift instead of degrade. Share good news. Love.

Our life consists of two worlds today – an earthly world, and an online world. Lets make the whole of both of them “good” and win the battle.
