October 2015 General Conference Notes – Sunday Morning Session

Thomas S. Monson – President

thomas-s-monson-largeThe new Apostles are well qualified to fill the positions to which they have been called.

Be thou an example unto the believers.

We come examples unto the believers by living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The words we use can lift and inspire or they can harm and demean.

Speak to others with love and respect, keeping our language clean.

As we emulate the Savior’s example we will bless lives.

May the light always shine in your eyes!

Faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind at the same time, for one will dispel the other.

Communication to our Heavenly Father through prayer is vital.

Be pure – clean in body, mind, and spirit.

Purity will bring us peace of mind and qualify us to receive the Savior’s promises.

Ronald A. Rasband – Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

ronald-a-rasband-largeIt’s clear that Elder Rasband was raised up and prepared for this high and holy calling.

Love another as the Lord has loved us.

There is nothing we can do to change God’s love for us.

Jesus Christ looked past race, ethnicity, rank, and circumstances.

Gary E. Stevenson – Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

gary-e-stevenson-largeHeavenly Father’s generous compensation for living the the most perilous of times is that we live in the fullness of times.

Central to Heavenly Father’s plan is Jesus Christ’s atonement.

Dale G. Renlund – Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

dale-g-renlund-largeThe weak and simple are to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth.

The Lord has called you for what he needs to do through you, and that will only happen if you do it His way.

Your calling is not about you. It’s about those you serve.

To effectively serve others in the Church we must see them through a parent’s eyes – through Heavenly Father’s eyes.

With all my heart I want to be a true follower of Jesus Christ.

Russell M. Nelson – President – Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

russell-m-nelson-largeCovenant keeping women.

The women of this dispensation are distinct from any other.

The kingdom of God is not and cannot be complete without women who make and keep sacred covenants.

We need women who are courageous.

We need women who teach fearlessly.

If you quit now others will painfully have to learn what you already know.

Sisters – we need your impressions, insights, and inspiration.

Sisters posses special gifts from God that cannot be duplicated by the men of the Church.

The culminating act of all creation was the creation of woman.

We need women who will raise a sin-resistant generation.

We need women.

It is converted, covenant keeping women, whose righteous lives will stand out in a deteriorating world.

Together we will help prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord.

Gregory A. Schwitzer – Seventy

gregory-a-schwitzer-largeWe need the clarion call of the trumpet.

One man or women, who is willing to testify can make a difference.

True disciples of Christ are not looking to make excuses for the doctrine when it doesn’t fit the world’s current concepts.

True disciples represent the Lord when it may not be convenient to do so.

True disciples desire to inspire the hearts of men, not just impress them.

The great and spacious building is growing in size.

Don’t wander the halls of the great and spacious building.

We must never let go of the iron rod.

The path of happiness is the basic family unit.

It is time for us to stand up and testify.

Claudio R. M. Costa – Seventy

claudio-r-m-costa-largeTelling the stories of Jesus is a very special way to keep the Sabbath Day holy in our homes.

The Sabbath and the Sacrament become much more enjoyable as we study the stories of Christ.

Meditate on what he means to “always remember Him.”

Henry B. Eyring – First Presidency

henry-b-eyring-largeClaim the gift – receive the Holy Ghost.

The companionship of the Holy Ghost make what is good look more attractive, and temptation less compelling.

The Holy Ghost helps us verify truth from falsehood.

Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed.

The truths that mark the way home to God are verified by the Holy Ghost.

We need a constant influence of the spirit of truth to spare us in moments of doubt.

For those struggling – treat the moments you feel the Spirit as seeds of faith. Plant each one of them.

As you obey the impressions from the Spirit will come more frequently, close and closer to constant companionship.

Always remember Him, and keep His commandments, that you may always have His Spirit.

Just keep doing little things for the Lord that you are prompted to do.

Put your trust in that Spirit which leadeth to do good.

Revelation through the Holy Ghost guides and sustains the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
