Hallelujah

When Mary approached the tomb early in the morning, she expected to find the Son of God, but to her surprise, she was greeted by a heavenly messenger, an angel, who said, “`Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.” -Luke 24:5-6

The resurrection of Jesus Christ opened the door to immortality for all of us. Because of Him, eternal life is now available. We can have the assurance that as we are faithful, we can live forever with God and our families for all time and eternity.

My Grandfather passed away a week and a half ago. He was a great example for me of someone who loved God, and trusted in His words. He cared about and loved his family very much.

For as long as I can remember, my grandfather battled emphysema. When I was young, I remember that he only required an inhaler to help him with his breathing. But as I grew older, he required oxygen.

Though his passing was very difficult for me and my family, I take comfort in knowing that Jesus’ death and resurrection were real, and that my grandfather is not suffering in the next life. I know that he knew and believed that too. Jesus broke the bands of death, and consequently has an immortal, glorified, and perfected body.

All of the fallacies that mortal life claims on our bodies will be healed, and we can experience the infinite joy and love of God in our heavenly home.

Death is not the end. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ were real events, with real, eternal consequences.

This image is of the new Provo City Center temple that was dedicated last weekend. The story behind this statue was published this week, and it is beautiful. Please take a minute to read it here. A great story to read on Easter Sunday.
