October 2018 Sunday Morning Session

Presiding – Russell M. Nelson

Conducting – Henry B. Eyring

Choir – Redeemer of Israel

Prayer – Allen F. Packer

Choir – Choose the Right

M. Russell Ballard – Acting President, Quorum of Twelve

Biography of Joseph F. Smith

Jospeh F. Smith experienced suffering and loss throughout his life

Interesting that the Lord inspired Elder Ballard to write this talk and complete it before the death of his wife.

Invitation to thoroughly and thoughtfully read Pres. Smith’s revelation of the spirit world.

Bonnie H. Cordon – Young Women General President

We all want to be recognized, to matter, and to feel loved.

The Savior knows and loves us.

We must develop a shepard’s heart.

The Savior’s sheep were known and numbered.

Ministering – we must know our families.

No one is forgotten.

Make sure each person feels the love of the Savior.

Remember your ministering families in your daily prayers.

Your ministering assignment gives you a divine right to inspiration.

Jeffrey R. Holland – Quorum of Twelve Apostles

Don’t wait for more instructions on ministering – just jump in to the pool and swim.

Agree with thine adversary quickly.

Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath.

Anger that is not restrained is frequently more destructive than the injury that provoked it.

We are to live together in love, with no disruptions among us.

Our relationship with Christ is determined by our relationship to each other.

Let us not burden our remembrance with a heaviness that is gone.

Cease to contend one with another.

In our shared ministry of reconciliation, be peacemakers.

Intermediate Hymn – We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet

Shane M. Bowen – Seventy

Our understanding of God and His plan of happiness comes from prophets.

The gathering of Israel is the most important thing taking place today.

The Book of Mormon is the keystone to conversion.

If there were no Book of Mormon, the promised gathering of Israel would not occur.

Neil L. Anderson – Quorum of Twelve

Trials come to us, no matter our circumstances because this is mortality.

Each of us will be wounded in the battle of life, whether physically, spiritually, or both.

Never give up.

You are not meant to perish spiritually.

God did not create our spirits to be independent of Him.

In the crucible of earthly trials, patiently move forward.

Repentance is powerful spiritual medicine.

The peace the temple is a soothing balm to the wounded soul.

Attend the temple as frequently as possible.

Disappointment comes to visit on occasion, but is never allowed to stay.

You may be exhausted, but don’t ever give up.

The wounded who nurse the wounds of others are God’s angels on earth.

Increasing your faith in Christ will bring added strength and a greater hope.

Choir – His Voice As The Sound

Russell M. Nelson – President

A matter of great importance.

Why we care so deeply about the issue of the name of the Church.

This effort is not a name change or rebranding.

It is a correction. It is the command of the Lord.

The Savior named the church.

The name of the Church is not negotiable.

The most glaring omission in the nicknames of the Church is the absence of the Savior’s name.

To remove the Lord’s name from His Church is a major victory for Satan.

Great blessings promised, the likes of which we have never seen, as we strive to make known the name of the Church.

Choir – It is Well With My Soul
